Battery “B”.. Battery ‘’B’’ was organized on the campus of the Agricultural and Mechanical College, Monti- cello, Arkansas, and was Fed- erally recognized on October 16, 1923. The home of the battery was in a frame building until it was moved into the present arm- ory in 1926. FIRST LIEUTENANTS Major B. S. Hargis command- ed the battery until March 11, Hanson, Sumner 1933, when he was promoted, and Captain James H. Hutchin- son, who is now in command of the battery, was put in charge. The battery has had four first lieutenants: Hugh P. Moffitt, James H. Hutchinson, Alaga H. Boyd, and Clayton C. Hanson Hugh P. Moffitt, Walter P. Nel- son, James H. Hutchinson, Alaga H. Boyd, Fay W. Hammons, Crawford R. McLellan, Travis C. Keahey, Frank W. McGibbony, and George L. Ladd have served the battery as second lieuten- ants, in the order named. The battery has had only two supply sergeants and caretakers. Sergeant Jennings B. McDuffie served in this capacity from the time the battery was organized until his death on February 18, 1937. Sergeant McDuffie had the name of being one of the best caretakers in this Corps Area. Sergeant Robert G. An- derson, followed McDuffie as supply sergeant and held that position until January, 1941. This position is now held by Ser- geant Gerard Sangster.
