DEDICATION KATHARINE DODD, MD. A native of Rhode lsland, Dr. Dodd received her AB. from Bryn Mawr in 1914 and her lVl.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1921. After an internship and residency training at Johns Hopkins and Yale University Hospitals she began teaching in the field of Pediatrics in 1926. She has been associated with Vanderbilt and Cincinnati University medical schools and since 1952 has been Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Uni- versity of Arkansas. To a brilliant physician and inspiring teacher who has devoted her life to medicine, the Class of 1957 respectfully dedicates this edition of the Caduceus.

can FOREWDRD oo The University of Arkansas Medical Center is now a reality. lVlany hours of work and planning are behind it and much yet remains to be done. A concentrated effort on the part of all concerned will soon accomplish what is desired-a medical education program in Arkansas second to none in the nation. In publishing this edition of the CADUCEUS the staff has attempted to recreate some of the advances made during 1957. Much time has gone into its preparation-often to the detriment of other obligations. Our sole reward will be the knowledge that you consider the result well done. The value of a book such as this is chiefly a sentimental one. There are those who treasure the experiences that a yearbook will recall-others who mark it as evidence of an education hard-earned. Whatever' the reason that you retain your copy of the 1957 CADUCEUS we hope that you are pleased with the contents. Undoubtedly there are imperfections-we only hope that their numbers are few.
