Costuming was a vital part of the Halloween dance. Missy Beauchaine, Patty Thompson, and Marty Hay wore theirs. Karen Reith and Gaylon Robbins really seem to make the most of the dance. Kevin Traylor and Cindy Watson try their hand at Two Stepping. Group dancing is a big craze for some students. 'Q Us io xxik' RQQQ 'si x.,:X s in ew I iv' 'S,on ,ne -1-,194 1 'Sb' 0.0! ll the right moves all dances called unique Fall semester dances can only be described as experimentally unique. At the Halloween dance, the unfin- ished construction of the Union made for very, very close quarters yet this did not stop the almost record turnout of friends. As costumes went cross- dressing was definitely in with the award for best female costume going to Pee-Wee Herman, and the winner of the best male costume went ro a high class prostitute. Most original costume went to Barry Youngblood as Prince. There was, of course, the usual band of bunnies, sailors, soldiers, and bums, but originality was the key to being cool at the dance. This year's dances were experi- mental and unique. But nowhere was this proven than at the Christmas dance. With the center of attention being a 12 foot video screen, this cer- tainly opened a whole new era of dances at Wesrarlf., Not only could dancers listen to their favorite tunes, they could for the first time watch the videos simultaneously. With one of the highest turnouts of Westark stu- dents the Christmas dance was to be one of the most successful in years. Barry Hawthorne literally picked up Libby Spruell, but then he dropped her. Nancy Williams loves moving to the beat. Activitiesf13
