UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA MINING SOCIETY AND STUDENT CHAPTER OF AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF MINING AND METALLURGICAL ENGINEERS The primary object of this organization is to promote among its members a self-sought increasing knowledge of mining and metallurgical engineering in all its branches and to instil a professional pride in the life work they have chosen. A second purpose is to promote good fellowship among the mining students at the University of Alaska and to create a sentiment favorable to upholding the prestige and honor of the University of Alaska. MMH CIVIL ENGINEERS SOCIETY The Yukon Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers affords an opportunity for the members of the Civil Engineering classes to become acquainted, to promote a spirit of congeniality among them, to acquaint them with topics of interest to Civil Engineering Students through the medium of addresses by com- petent speakers, and to foster the development of a professional spirit. The Chapter engages in the social activities of the campus and publishes The Last P. I., a newspaper of Chapter and other Engineering news. THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CLUB Meetings of the International Relations Club were held bi-monthly with dis- cussions on world union, the Palestine situation, China Communists, the Atomic Bomb, and U.S. -Russian problems. One of the oldest organizations on the campus, the International Relations Club was formed in the spring of 1935 for the purpose of helping students to keep themselves informed on conditions throughout the world.
