' It has a three-fold purpose: 1. To give some entertainment for the public. 2. To increase acting ability of students. 3. To gain some knowledge and appreciation of current plays. In December, all club members who could meet the necessary requirements, were initiated into the National Thespian Assoc- iation and a Charter for Troupe No. 1011 was granted to Unity Senior High School. With this aim we presented the serious cantata "The Wondrous Story" and the colorful "Twas the Night Before Christmas." Did the "Cherubim Song" at contest transform us to cherubs? We appeared though oriental in "The Mikado" with saucy Pitti thirsty Katisha and austere Pooh-Bah. Thus, ' shout and ringing cheer"we rang down the Curtain etta and another season of singing together. -- 23- quite human -Sing, blood 'with joyou on our oper -A V f. 5 , V4 1 lx YJ' K W , "' f.. i r . The Student Council takes suggestions to the fac- ulty and the school board and carries opinions from the faculty and board to the students. During this school year, the Student Council has functioned in four main ways. The first task was the supervision of the election of cheerlead- ers in the fall. They then sponsored the Home- coming Dance with Paul Karlstrom's orchestra, which was held on the 19th of October. On the 31st of October the Student Council sponsored a Halloween Party. All students came masked and there was fun for all. The next event was the Christmas party held December 21 during the afternoon. Gifts were exchanged and school was adjourned for Christmas vacation. .. 31 .. An important means of broadening the education of Unity Future Farmers of America is field trips. Their trip to Chicago included a visit to the International Livestock Show where the boys saw the Grand Champion of all breeds in swine, dairy and beef cattle, and sheep. Then they went to the meat packing plant and learned a few things about the butchering of live animals. The spring trip, which the boys enjoy every year, is a fishing trip on which they camp outside for a few days and cook their own food. Thus, this trip is made with very little expense. Next year the F.F.A. is planning a trip to Kansas City to the National Convention.
