Penner. STANDING: Wayne Woods, Darrell Samuels, Leo Johnson, Jim Samuels Top Sophomore Valley Scorer Sophomore Coach Dave Marr discusses a play with two players, Steve Shan- ner and Mike Patterson. The Sophomore Basketball Team finished its season with a 11-6 record for 1967. The high point of the season with their 71-70 double overtime victory against Davenport Central. The East Moline Cubs led during most of regula- tion time until the beginning of the fourth period when Central scored six points. With nine seconds left in the first overtime period, Jim Cruz made a charity toss and sent the game into another three minute period. At the end of the second overtime, Samuels scored two free throws making the score 71-68. The Panther team won in a one point victory as the Blue Devils sank a basket at the buzzer.
