" D ' s " good-natured wit, courage, and sincerely will always carry him in good stead wherever he goes GHM Fredric D. Forney, Jr Glenndale Maryland Mechanical Engineering Nuclear Submarines Fred On July 6. 1979. Fred packed up his belongings, said larewell to his lamily and his beautilul girllriend. and began the long journey from Glenndale to Annapolis, twenty miles in all He became a member ol the notorious group known as the Kilo Company Communists Under the able leadership ol Cdr J C Glutting, this group brought new meaning to the word competition and tilled their pockets to the brim with quarters in the process Fred spent his lour studious years at USNA rooming with such outstanding 19 Co personalities as Dave. Larry. Eric. Mike, and Dennis The lirst year was tough but Fred found enjoyment late at night in such Plebian activities as dropping Pepsi cans out ol windows in Goat Court and tieing up overbearing upperclass As a Mechanical Engineering student. Fred learned lirst hand what the word sweat meant As other Mids left on their weekends. Fred could be seen leaving with his Awol bag packed with clothes and his B-4 bag stulled lull ol textbooks to study His idea of a fun date was taking his girllnend, Cindy, to the computer terminals to show her some computer graphics and then to King Hall lor a hot meal Fred swears that he had the toughest prols at USNA (maybe that ' s why he got a lew B ' s) Nevertheless, his diligence paid oil Out ol his struggles came the " unique character " which it takes to choose nuclear power over flying In all seriousness, there are lew people like Fred He is always willing to lend a helpinj obstacles lo stand in his way.
