The 1967 La Vista The La Vista Staff United High School R. D. 2 New Florence, Pennsylvania We Dedicate 2 Mr. Pecsenye helps Mark Mathews with his concert music. And a one, and a two, and a three. To A. Dwight Pecsenye Whose sympathetic understanding and enthusiasm in teaching music, whose pleasant personality characterized by wit and humor, and whose patience and untiring effort to help hopeful musicians has won for him a high place of esteem we respectfully dedicate the 1967 La Vista. 7 Introduction •'J We, the 1967 La Vista staff, have strived to capture the humorous, serious, hectic, and tranquil days of the past school year. As seventh graders ask each other, What took them so long? , seniors wonder where the 180 days went. The graduating seniors sadly remove their caps and gowns, climbing off that golden throne they sat on for a fleeting moment. This yearbook has been created so that in the distant future, as you leaf through its yellowing pages, it may become your passport to the past. Later the fountain draws much attention while passing couples stop to chat and discuss the evening. 76 On April 29, 1966, the Junior-Senior Prom was held in the high-school gymnasium. Students of the Junior Class held bake sales in the communities of the district and also held a dance, Autumn Leaves to raise money for the prom. The juniors, who chose the theme Fountain of Starlight , chose blue, pink, and white crepe paper for their decorations. Highlighted by a revolving silver chandelier, the domed ceiling of blue and white gave the effect of a starlight night. Shimmering, a fountain sprang up from a rocky pool surrounded by flowers. A moss-covered pathway led to the platform where the band, The Jet Tones, played soft music. Tables were decorated by ceramic figureines, mint cups filled with mints and nuts, and a program. At the end of the evening, many couples attended a postprom party held at Richland Lanes. t 77 Senior editors, Bonnie Gaul and Herb Mathews, have the job of interviewing seniors to learn their likes, dislikes, and ambitions for the future.
