Two reporters, Barbara and Cynthia, examine the articles which thev wrote in the finished paper. Slue a uf White £tar The school paper, the Blue and White Star, exists for four main reasons: (1) to inform students of school and community activities; (2) to serve as a means of communication and expression to students; (3) to stimulate thought and encourage opinion about subjects vital to high school students; and (4) to act as a unifying force between the students and the members of the faculty and administration. Last year the Blue and White Star earned a second place rating in the University of Pittsburgh High School Publications Contest; and rated first place with the highest honors of all Class B school newspapers in the entire state. The basic skills of newspaper work are taught to the juniors in a special journalism class by the newspaper advisor, Mr. Vargo. oo
