HISTORY -OF CLASS '48 The history of the Class of '48 began four seemingly short years ago. on September 2, when we entered the portals of Union High School to conquer the world of learning. CThat was our intention, really.j Quite determined to get down to business, wc chose Mr. Pastorius as our advisor with: Charles f'ouners .... . .......Class President Ernest James.......... President Rosemary Krupica.... .......... .... Secretary and Treasurer Our class flower was the ever lovely American Beauty Rose while we chose blue and white as our special colors. lf we can't find a way, we will make a way -which well describes the Class of '48, was selected as our motto. After three mouths of loafing, as Sophomores this time, we again trooped up the now familiar steps. VVith funds gathered by sponsoring two dances and increased by the sale of liquid refreshments--better known to all of us as pop ---we made this, our Sophomore year, as successful as the beginning, or, our green year. During our Sophomore year we found a diamond in the rough to serve us as president, not only for this year, but during the remaining period of our high school career. This jewel was none other than the energetic. effer- vescent, always active Henry Crebs. Then came our Junior vearg moving steadilv along the way, we managed - '. e U fr . to elect one of our classmates, Eddie Shepard, to the highest office among the pupils-President of Student Council. NVQ- also highlighted this year with our Hold Front, a musical comedy. participation in the Junior Town Meeting of the Air, a hay-ride, and a skating party. This year, too, we were at last entitled to attend the great social event of the year-fthe Junior-Senior Prom. Our last lap of the journey, or our Senior year, found us busy with activities such as editing the '48 Messenger. raising additional funds for our book, presenting our Senior play, The Groom Said Noll' and combining the talents of juniors and seniors ill presenting the Annual Shop Minstrel. We also sold football programs and sponsored a few school dances to aid the bankroll. Une of our outstanding activities was co-operating with the American Federa- tion of Musicians, who provided us with a twelve piece o1'chestra, for a free dance. Then came commencement, the Big Day, followed by that grand and glorious week--Senior VVeek. So ends the days of our years at Union, where as students we have worked some, played a lot, and now make ready to leave with few regrets, many high ideals, and many happy memories. NVe leave these halls, so dear to us, to those coming after us. Vile bid farewell to all our good times and bad times, and full of lusty life and burning hope for the future, we move into that larger world outside of the class room, with the wish that life at Union may move steadily onward and yon, who take our places, may find your days as pleasant as we, the Ulass of 1948 have found them, so, Onward, sons of Union. page Sf-I'f!l-UNI'
