BASEBALL Union High School, as a member of two different groups of baseball teams. expects to see plenty of the Favorite American Sport during the coming season. In the first of these'groups, teams representing Moundsville, Vilheeling. XVarwood, Triadelpliia, XVest Liberty, Linsly lnstitutc, McKinley Trade and Union, make up what is known as the Ohio-Marshall County League and plenty of good baseball is played. Covering a little larger area, is the Ohio Valley Conference which has as members teams representing the Brooke-Hancock County League, teams repre- senting schools froin the Ohio side having baseball as a sport and Union. Even though many of' the Varsity players of last year were lost by gradua- tion and the team will need to be rebuilt, that t'Union fight will not be lacking in the Hsluggers of 1948 -nv J TRACK Our high school has never gone in for track as a sport very seriously, but this year we hope to take part in track as a means to help increase the speed of the boys, as well as their athletic coordination. While we may not have boys that will be outstanding in track performance, they may still be able to build up increased speed which will pay oft' in both tl1e football and basket- ball games to come. The major meets in which the boys will participate are as follows: Ohio Valley Conference Track Meet-April 24g Intelligencer Relays on May 15 VVest Virginia Regional Track Meetw-May 85 VVest Virginia State Track Meet-May 15. In addition to these regularly scheduled meets the boys may participate in some dual meets with surrounding schools. page fifty-si.r
