Senior Class History In September of 1939, we, the class of '43 made our debut into the gay whirl of high school life. We got off to a good start with a whole hearted cooperation on everyone's part in sponsoring a box social. We also had a penny carnival. Then came June. When we came back again, this time as experienced Sophomores, we elected Rosaline Mineo for our President, making her second term of office. This year we had some super parties and more money-making schemes. Again came June and three months of vacation. In 1941, we all came back to enjoy our status as Juniors. This year we elected Arthur Treat as our President. We were the sponsors of an unsurpassable banquet and Victory Prom at the Showboat. We had a good time at both and so did everyone else. June came as usual, none too soon. Now we have become the awe-inspiring Seniors. During this, our last year under the roofs of UCHS., we crowd into our time every minute of possible enjoyment and study. We book time out to have another Penny Carnival and a big class party. Finally, on May 25th, the great day comes. We graduate, leaving behind us a few vague memories, but taking with us many clear ones. We and the class of 1943. The Class officers who were elected by their fellow students include: Art Treat, President, Neil Clark, Secretary and Treasurer, Gerry Blok, Vice President, Marilyn Burger, Historian. This well-known class has spread its fame everywhere and is repre- sented in the Navy, Coast Guards, and Army. Those who would have graduated in this class, but left before the end of the term, and received their diplomas were: Ray Parrish, Paul Gregor, Louis Klein, and Jack Mullen. Carlyle Shepard has served with the Navy since July, 1942. Last and certainly not least, the Senior class is proud to have in its grad- uating class, Florence Laird, who would have graduated in the class of '38, but unfortunately was taken ill and could not finish this task at the time. Now, through the co-operation of Miss Durbin and Mrs. Elmer, Florence has wo1'ked hard and has completed her high school education. She will long remember 1943, for on May 25th she came forward as a member of the graduating class and received her diploma. Her efforts certainly were rewarded. The Senior Class expresses their congratulations to Florence and wish her the very best of luck, knowing that she will succeed in all her life ac- tivities. siqisyaf
