Q Q EPTEMBER 1944 Unxdls opened wlth a large group of students strugglmg QD to adJust themselves to the change back to school llfe where ones tlme 1S not hls ovsn and a few ambltlous students trylng earnestly to estabhgh a stu dent council organlzatlcn It was a rather dlfflcult Job because there had been no functlonmg organ1zat1on the DTGVIOUS year and the members were not very well acquainted wlth the act1v1t1es of such an orgamzatlon However with the help of our adv1sors M1 s K111lDgSWOlth and Mr Marcrum we got off to a good start The followlng students were chosen as OHICCFS for the COUHC11 Eleanor Lee Marcrum presldent Mary Frances Kennedy v1ce presldent Jean Stenger secretary and Llllxan Adams treasurer Several standmg commlttees were appolnted for the year to take care of var Lous act1v1+1es Bulletln Board Advertlslng Receptxon Fnance Program Soclal Lost and Found F1re Drlll COl'lSt,1tllt10l1 and By Laws Stage Manager Movmg Plcture Hall Patrol Reporters Several projects were undertaken durlng the year Boys Class Basketball Tournament Conduct 1n the Lunchroom Cleamng up of School Grounds and Bulldlng Chrlstmas Tree and Program and selection of Prmcesses representing our school A banquet was held ln the Home Economxcs Room January 31 to which were mvlted the Student COUHC11 the Hall Patrol Mr Marcrum and Mxss K1ll1ngSW01'm The mothers se ved Th1s orgamatlon has proven very prontable nct only to the school but to the 1nd1v1duals who as members have gotten the valuable experlence Whlch It has offered Wllo knows maybe one of us w1ll be presldent some day SCHOOL PATROL Left to nght seated Helen Lowther, Jean Stenger, Ruth Benedum, Emma Jane Snuth.
