SNAPPING-IN, Marine terminology for practice, be- gins with the first day at the rifle range and continues until record day. The four positions used by all Ma- rines in firing the range are uncomfortable and awk- ward at first. By record day, the daily snapping-in have given the recruit the techniques and trained his muscles so that he assumes the proper positions quick- ly and easily. His rifle seems as much a part of him and as familiar as his arms and legs-as though he was born to it . ME 1 Mir '- Proper sling adjustment, trigger squeeze, use of the score book, safety rules, proper firing positions, and instructions on pulling targets for other shooters are also part of the instruction during the snapping-in period.
