2, I he Sailors and Marines of the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department are known for keeping aircraft in top shape but they also play a much larger role in ensuring Tarawa s mission accomplishment. The Management Division CIMOD includes the Maintenance Officer and his primary staff. They are responsible for the administration of AIMD and control of more that S25 million in support equipment assets. The Airframes Division CIMOZJ conducts intermediate maintenance on aircraft systems including: flight control surfaces fuselages tires and wheels hydraulic systems and power plants. IM02 also takes care of aircrew survival gear and analyzes engine oil. The Avionics and Calibration Division CIMOBJ conducts intermediate maintenance on many systems, including aircraft avionics, communication, navigation, multi-function display systems, electrical wiring and lighting systems, calibration, circuit cards, and Armament Weapons Support Equipment. The Support Equipment Division CIMOLD is responsible for maintenance and repair of all 'white' and 'yellow' support equipment and material handling equipment.
