He reported to his first duty assign- ment on board USS PUGET SOUND MD-382 as a deck searnan. He has served on board USS LAMOURE CITY ILSTT-11941, USS PLYMOUTH ROCK ILSD-291, USS PONCHATOUIA IAO-1482, USS SAMPLE IFF-10482, USS WHIPPLE IFF-10622, USS JOHN L. HALL IFF- 32j. His shore commands include Fleet Daining Group Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Recruit Company Comman- den Great Lakes, Illinois. The driving force behind virtually every mission, the members of this department represent the finest qualities in today 's Navy. n the bridge, you will find our highly skilled crew of Quartermasters running the ship. These are the men who have charted M ON TERE Y 's course across the Atlantic, to the Mediterranean, Arabian Guh' and back home. Equally comfortable with today 's electronu' navi- gation techniques as they are with the ancient mariner's sextant, these men are directly involved in every opera- tion at sea. o less important is the tremendous crew of Ship 's Ojice personnel who are responsible for a myriad of instructions, letters, documents and service records.
