. G C gufgnef Mr. C. C. Burgner has completed his thirty-sixth year as principal of Tyner High School. Through his energetic work and progressive leadership many improvements of educational facilities for the stu- dents of Tyner have been introduced. Recently Mr. Burgner was the recipient of several honors for him- self and Tyner, namely, the 30 year Knothole Certifi- cate, Meritorious Service 4-H Award, Life Member- ship in the P. T. A., a citation by the Hamilton County Board of Education on the 50th anniversary of the school, and election to Alpha, Scholastic Honorary Society of the University of Chattanooga. In 1954 the Tyner Alumni Association and P. T, A. jointly honored him with a This Is Your Life pro- gram. Mr. Burgner has seen the enrollment of the school grow from 100 to 1922 to 1109 in 1958, Dur- l Y . - l ing this time the faculty increased from 4 to 42 mem- bers. He holds the following degrees: B. A. Univer- sity of Chattanoogag M. A. University of Michigan, and LL. B. Chattanooga College of Law. r. gfiof Mr. T. Carlyle Elliott, assistant principal, came to us this year from Elbert Long School where he taught physical education, health and science. He is a grad- uate of Hixson High School and the University of Tennessee where he received his Master of Science degree. Already, he has won the esteem and respect of our student body. We welcome him and sincerely hope he will remain with us for a long time.
