N. Pettygrove, photographer and the Carl Orrin Art Studio. We sincerely hope that it will prove as enjoyable to its readers as it has for us to make. This book has been the work of the entire staff and to us it has been a consecrated task. If, in years to come, these pages bring back happy memories to your minds and gladness to your hearts, then we shall indeed feel amply compensated for the work involved. If experience and success have any part in athletic leadership, then Mr. Powers is unsurpassed, for year in, and year out, Coach Powers' teams were either contenders or winners of District, Big Six, and State championships. The responsibil- ity of handling the many duties of the athletic department is a tremendous one, and we feel the unity and success that excells among our present Bruin teams is due largely to the fine leader- ship of our Athletic Director. Among the returning lettermen who will bolster the Bruin lineup are: Gary Cappel, Gary Jenkins, Larry Craggs, Wes Jones, Bob Showalter, Ronald Stansell, Brian Thompson, Terry Randolph, Adrian Dean and Jim Ruge. When asked about the on-coming season, Coach Folkins had this to say-"We should be stronger this year, as of course we have most of last year's starting line-up back. We will be aided considerably by the fine right hands of Jones and Thompson who are a year older and much stronger. I feel that if the team spirit is as good as it was last year and the year before, we should have a very good chance of keeping the record somewhat near what it has been in the past." We feel with sluggers like Jerry Martyn who, by the way, has been looking very sharp in the early part of the spring practice, that Coach Folkins arid, they lillruins are on heir way to another fine season in the sport o ase a .
