The 1984 Homecoming game was a mean- ingful game for the Tillers in a lot of ways. It topped off a week of fun on the campus includ- ing food sales, games, races, Mr. Tiller, and the announcing of the Homecoming court. The Homecoming game is always fun and exciting but this year it meant a little more. lf the Tillers won, it would have more or less clinched them a birth in the C.I.F. play-offs as a wild card team. The theme this year was Up, Up, and Away, and it set the mood for the game and at the half time the Tillers were enjoying a 16-0 lead, balloons were released, fireworks were set off, and a parachuter dropped in with roses for newly crowned Queen Renay Johnson. That lead backfired on the Tillers when Canyon fought back to score 27 unanswered 2nd half points to send the Tillers play-off chances Up, Up, and Away. The final score was Canyon 27, Tustin 23.
