Guidance Department Counsels Students GUIDANCE ASSISTANTS Sue Glendenning, Mary Stewart, Fern Niehuss, and Merle Griffin look over bulletins concerning tests Seniors must take to gain entrance into college. Which college shall I go to? Would I be happier in a large university or in a small college? Can l even afford to go at all? Do I have a chance to get a scholarship? These questions run through every student's mind. Our guidance counselor, Mr. Merrill, is the person who can help calm puzzled students' doubts and tears about life after high school. The guidance department offers coun- seling about colleges, tests, scholarships, and vocational opportunities. Mr. Merrill administers tests and interprets results to students. This department is a valuable asset. I: I 7 MR. CONRAD MERRILL, Troy State College, Uni- versity of Alabama, B.S., MS., Guidance Coun- selor. TESTS, TESTS, TESTS! Here Juniors slave over California Achievement Tests, which measure mental maturity in terms of grade levels. Seniors take Differential Aptitude Tests which, when interpreted, helps students decide for what vocation they would be best suited. This, in turn, determines what training they will need.
