New people have been born, educated here, and have taken their place in the new Tuscaloosa. A city like Tuscaloosa is to those who know and love it like a home to a tootloose young fellow who always wants to know that he has a home to return to. lt is notable that once a man has lived in Tuscaloosa, his heart remains here no matter where he goes. l7l any city richer. Moreover, this is a new age, a space age, when lite is changing every day. Graduates of Tuscaloosa High School owe much to our city. Whether we choose to live here or elsewhere, all of us will retain within our hearts a warm spot for our first home, Tuscaloosa.

Named for a famous Indian chieftain, Tushkalusa, lmeaning Black Warriorl whose tomb now graces the courthouse lawn, the Druid City has a rich heritage . . . a city blessed by nature, overlooking a sleepy Warrior River that ripples gently Shaded by giant oak trees Tuscaloosa is a city which has become the center of educational facilities in Alabama and bids fair to become the educational center of the whole South- xn the spring breezes and mirrors the golden hue of autumn colors . . . lond- Tuscaloosa. . . Enterprising.. Ever changing. . . Varied Facets 0 Uur Li e The Serious Side As Well As The Light...Fun but Also Study Wmtm""'Wg-L MJ BECKY RHODES SIGNS the official roll kept by Amelia Kyle, secretary, during a National Honor Society induction. Just as adult citizens of Tuscaloosa are well-rounded individuals, so are the future citizens who populate our school. Crowds of boys and girls in our once spacious halls are a sure sign of an ever-growing city. ln a constant hub of activity, Tuscaloosa teen- agers are equally as fun-loving as any gen- eration with their myriad modes of recrea- tion. Parades, patriotism, concerts-all are included in our T. H. S. band life. ln the intellectual field, scholars follow the pace of the community through the ritual of the Honor Society. indeed, T. H. S. is a mirror which reflects the Tuscaloosa way of life- a mirror which reflects the hopes and am- bitions of a progressive city. "WHEN DOES THIS thing stop?" These T. H. S. students might well ask this as they pay a visit to the West Alabama Fair. l8l
