Mrs. Robinson, our advisor, had us selling candy bars. Most of our profits, however, came from our own wallets! When Booster Day came around, though, we were a little more organized. Our float, Winnie-the-Pooh, wasn ' t good enough to win, but we certainly were proud of him. Jennifer Mosca represented us as the lady-in-waiting. We finished the year with a trip to Martha ' s Vineyard with Mrs. Neville. Remember how flat the island was??? We hiked up lots of hills to reach that hostel. One year down and three more to go! 1983- 1984 SOPHOMORES This year was a hard one for our class. We had quite a few problems finding an advisor. Finally, Mr. Perkins agreed to do it. We did manage to pull off the chocolate Easter bunny sale. Remember the slogan, Buy a bunny for your honey? The excitement surrounding the ordering of our class rings was incredible. At float making, we were all so busy having fun that most of the work on our McDonald ' s float didn ' t get done until the morning right before judging. It didn ' t help matters any that the judges arrived two hours early! Alecia Giguere represented the class as duchess. Ending the year, some of us learned a tough lesson about honesty and trust from Mrs. Neville ' s trip to Nantucket. Junior year was steadfastly approaching. We could hardly believe that we were halfway through high school. 1984- 1985 JUNIORS In our Junior year, we were finally starting to pull together as a class. Cathi Erland represented our class as princess for Booster Day. Under the theme of cartoons, we made our best float yet. Unfortunately, due to the steep, bumpy roads. Underdog ended up a little under the weather and didn ' t quite make it to Unity Park in one piece. But we were still proud to march behind him in the parade. Fund raising was the key to this important year. Mr. Pucko, our new advisor, really helped us with that. Selling towels and having a car wash, on a freezing, cold day, were a few of the many efforts we put into earning money for our prom. Even though we didn ' t make much, we managed to have a successful prom at Wiggins Tavern in Northampton. But who would ever have guessed that we would have the biggest prom in T.F.H.S. history — about 160 people! With our shoe-box dining hall, we didn ' t have much room to dance, but all in all, I think most of us had a great time. We left with high spirits in anticipation of our Senior year. 1985- 1986 SENIORS Senior year was here at last. We were finally the big guys in the school — The Seniors! Our last year at Turners Falls High School started off with the repeal of the senior late arrival privilege. Oh well, we survived. It seemed strange having the Junior High, now Middle School, students completely separated from us. As a result. Booster Day seemed a bit empty. The float theme was Sesame Street, and we managed to put Oscar together the night before the parade, using all of the candy wrappers and pizza boxes from previous nights of floatmaking. There was a tie for queen. After a second vote, Jodi Courtemanche proudly represented our class. Then came The Snow Bowl. It was the coldest and toughest football game our guys played all year. A bonfire, a snake dance, and a 36-8 Greenfield victory ended the season. It was November and we were quickly realizing that we had to get moving on our college plans. The time had gone by so fast! Despite all the hardships, we have managed to become very close as a class. With such events as the family cookout in September, the class trip, planned with the help of the Senior Parent Support Group, the prom and of course, graduation, this year may prove to be our best year ever. Thanks Turners Falls High School for many happy times and wonderful memories. Respectfully, Alana J.
