It was a great relief to finally lose the title of Hubie’s Raiders, which haunted us through our junior high years. We were now considered and recognized as “high school” students and as freshmen were going to be able to take part. Booster Day was going to be special, we were finally going to have someone represent our class in the Booster Day activities. The theme for Booster Day was Ecology. The rally was great and when Shelly McComb ' s name was announced, as Lady in Waiting, everyone went wild. The parade was a success, but that does not mean our float was. Remember that huge football player with a little head? Our “Don’t Play With Matches Cause Turners Is Dynamite” bombed out! Remember Slave Day? Remember collecting money from friends so you could buy somebody? It was fun making those big senior slaves wait on us for a change. SOPHOMORES 1975-1976 The year just began when the ring man ar- rived. We had to choose committees and ring designs, and take orders. Of course everyone liked our rings but us. This Booster Day was during the bicentennial year, which was taken as the theme. Victoria Shea received the title of Duchess during the annual Booster Day rally. Can you remember her face? It was as red as the roses! Our float did not do well at all. We never even made it to Avenue A. Do you remember taking down lines? The float was supposed to be “The Liberty Bell,” but it looked more like a bicentennial baked potato. What a heartbreak! To top it all off, Jacqui Ryan fell off the float and spent Booster Day in the hospital. It was just not our year! JUNIORS 1976-1977 Our junior year was to be a busy one. There was money to raise, speeches to learn, and plans to make for our Junior Prom and Junior Prize Speaking. Booster Day came sooner than expected. Ses- ame Street was to be the theme. Mary Margola (Maggott) was chosen as Princess. Our float ac- tually took second place! Snuffle was about half 42 History . . . Moments the size of our bell. We wanted to make sure that we would at least make it to Avenue A and we also made sure that we didn’t have a tobacco truck as our trailer. Snuffle didn’t win first but, he came close. This was to be a good year for the football team. They went undefeated and beat Greenfield for the second consecutive year. Remember the party after the victory? Junior Prize Speaking was the next big event. Remember all the time spent learning and re- hearsing and then forgetting a word or a line? It was fun and exciting and everyone did a great job. Prom time soon was here. Remember worrying about whether you would get asked and after complaining because you didn’t have a dress? The Junior Prom was held at the Sweetheart. “If’ by Bread was the theme song. Remember getting ready two hours early so you wouldn’t be late? Remember coming home the next morning and not feeling as well as you did the night before when you left? That was some all night party! Before we knew it June was here and we were to become seniors. SENIORS 1977-1978 Our senior year just began when pictures had to be taken. Remember getting back the proofs and seeing what we really looked like? Remem- ber hoping that they could remove all the blem- ishes? This was to be our last Booster Day. The theme was Looney Tunes. Mary Kostanski was crowned Booster Day Queen. Remember every- one yelling out, “That a way to go, Walt!”? Tweetie, our float, was, by far the best float. It’s too bad that we only came in third. Oh well, at least we were consistent. Turkey Day soon arrived. We didn’t win! It still was a very good season. As seniors we were to be the slaves. Everyone had a chance to buy a senior during our Slave Day. We never thought that we would get bossed around by some 4 foot 1 inch freshman. It was a lot of fun to watch our whole class laugh togeth- er. Yes, we were a class and as a class we will leave happy, precious memories. There will al- ways be a part of us at good “ole” T.F.H.S.
