Graduating from Ottawa University with an A.B. de- gree, he began teaching at Wellsville, Kansas as a science instructor and as de- bate coach. His graduate work was taken at the University of Kansas. The next two years of his teaching career were spent as principal at Bluff City, Kansas and then he went back to Wellsville as superinten- dent for nine years. He came to Turner High School in the fall of 1938. Mr. Palm- quist has been a helping guide to us in the past four years. Although at times it was necessary for him to correct us we will appreciate it in later years. This man who is always flashing his camera and ready for some fun will be remembered by all of us. guru! of gclucafion MR WALTER BROWN SR. MR. PAUL JONES MR. Youth On the Beam is a club organizedto promote Christian fellowship among high school students, spiritual growth through Bible study and higher Christian living as a means of fighting juvenile delinquency. The officers, consisting of president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer, and reporter-representative, are elected at the close of each school year to serve the ensuing year. City Councilmeets the last Thursday of every month, at which meeting our reporter- representative is to be present, along with any other officers or interested members. The purpose of City Council is to promote and standardize individual clubs to encourage inter-club activity and to edit the Y. O. B. club paper, "Beam Chatter", and the Y. O. B. annual, "Beam." There are no strict membership rules or regulations, each and every meeting is open to students of all faiths. Each Y. O. B. Club has a teacher-sponsor, who meets with the club each meeting. Each Thursday evening during the school year, representatives of each Y. O. B. club meet at a different church for a quiz overa certain book ofthe Bible. Just recently, a new phase of Y. O. B. activityhas been added, consisting of a speech contest, inwhich a girl and boy from each club participate. At the close of each school year there is a formal banquet which all Y. O. B.er's may attend, although it is held in honor of the graduating seniors of Y. O. B. This page through the compliments of IO'S BEAUTY SHOP 4 AND TIPPS CLEANERS 5 Qgsk M,-4...
