The I98l-82 School Board and Administrators worked hard this year to ensure quality education for all the Tumwater schools. It was not an easy year as they faced state educational budget cuts and spiraling inflation. Through their determination, they pursued the course for opening the new Elementary School at Black Lake ahead of time. lt will be ready to open at the beginning of the I982-83 school year. Decisions had to be made every day at the administrative level They can be proud of the fact that all their headaches and frustrations have been made bearable through another successful year for Tumwater schools. .lim PIIL Superintendent REQ W X I i 1 ,X 1 fix 'X wwf W 31? f f C I iv X ,JJ IJ Nw ju ' X ,Q 'qgxv MX! We, as coaches, were very impressed at the off-season loyalty the team showed, both at Unity Camp and in the weight room. We were also impressed with the "never-give-up" attitude, despite adversity, all through the season. The Birds may ha ve lost some valuable players this year but will return next year with the nucleus for a great team. This years .L , frosh team was perhaps the finest to ever come Qi through FHS. Although the dance yielded a nice sum of money, the band, Truce, left some thing to be desired. "They really stunk!" exclaimed Linda Williams, social chairperson. "I wished that we could've had a better band, but we really could not afford one," she explained further. The theme for the dance was 'Sweet Dreams " and the Performing Arts Center was decorated to fit the occasion. The pictures were taken by Parnell, and the pictures featured a rainbow background surrounded by palm trees and a sandy beach. This did not have much to do with Sweet Dreams, but one dance goer described it this way, "lust think of yourself lying on the beach surrounded by foxy chicks. That's something I dream about every day!"At any rate, most of the dancers seemed to have fun even though Truce was not the greatest rock-n-roll sensation to hit Tumwater High School. Our madness began with the Senior color deadline in October and gained momentum from there on out. Advisors of clubs and coaches certainly outdid themselves as they assisted us in our every hour of need. For a change, the Annual Staff decided to please themselves. From pizza feeds to empty film cannisters-from lost misplaced and ruined Varsity Girls BB pictures-to overworked and overtired people-we made it!! K we did?-oh yallj It was and still is our belief that every student ought to be on some sort of production staff to experience all the wonderful, enlightening examples of cooperation among the ranks.
