Butler lunged over from the eleven-yard stripe for the final Greenie score, and the game ended, Tulane 26, Rice 17. Tulane, 51 ; Mercer, The boys in green had no mercy when the little Mercer Bears stepped out on th e field with them. The Bears were swamped under an avalanche of touchdowns which resulted in a total of 51 points, 551 net yards from scrimmage and 27 first downs for the Wave. Banker, Hays, Bond, Gloden, Brunner, Butler and Kellogg scored touchdowns in the order named. Tulane, 27; Mississippi State, Driving hard behind the devastating blocking of the Greenie A and B lines, Brunner, Banker and Butler ac- counted for four touchdowns, one each quarter, to shut out the Mississippi State Maroons, 27 to 0. Butler punched over two of the tallies, roaring through for constant gains after the charging linemen opened up gaping holes for him. Spike Nelson ' s boys didn ' t have much of a chance against the powerhouse Wave attack and the handwriting could be plainly seen on the wall before the first period had terminated. Both A and B teams operated well and it looked like the Alabama boys would be in for it the follow- ing week up in Birmingham.
