In Order to have something to look forward to for our runninv we had a CF0SS'C0untFY race which was entered by aboat fifteen ofoour best runnerse, The winners gW6PE,b'l5t, :Gleason ,Norrist D2 npd, Frankie Lopez, and 3rd, arry Johnsen, and they received Gold, Sil- ver, and Bronze medals. This running also prbved to be.of great imP0PtaHCe for our lens string of vieteriee in-basketball. 'We P1aYed H total of 17 games and won 13 and lost only Z, which we be- lieve is a good record in'anybody'g,1eaghg5 4 H We were ,having so much fun. at the expense. of our opponents that we were really not ready to quit basketball, but Coach decided we Sh0U1d get Started GH iP8Ck and baseball so we did and we were- n't'S0FFY-g In our inter+class ftrack meet' we proved we had track ebiiify ee Coach eenedolea peemerreek -'meets fornus. bln em- first meet with the Cubs we did not win ,in total points bat proved that we were masters of the long distance traces .by.captgring:a11 the first, second, third and .fourth points in 'these racesm Then came our big chance, We were invited to participate in the Tucson Ref lays on the following Saturday and again we proved to be worthy of the honor, We-not only won all of' the distance races but we broke two of the.threeH records which ,were broken 'that dayen Competing against such schools as Tacson,,Amphitheater,, Nogales and Benson, we won nine blue ribbons for first places and ten second and fourth place ribbons:-a total ofg nineteen ribbons, The following week we journeyed to Nogales where we competed in- a triangular meet with Nogales and Bisbee High Schools and again, placed high in the dis- tances andi hurdles., We then .invited Amphitheater. High Schoolfs track team for a dual meet and defeated them in the final standings of the meet, out short by.rain.W I I 'jg Although our baseball, season is not yet completed you will find us on the winning side there too. We have played six games so fare winning four and-losing only two.- .
