Text from Pages 1 - 86 of the 1949 volume:

Morning The sunrise in the morning with the sky so very blue The forests, fields, and meadows Were all wet with dew. ' Afternoon - . With the wearing away of the morning And the day so very hot With mother nature controlling things We were satisfied with what we got. X Night The sunset in the west 5 Which is the part that is the best, The clouds that set with the sun Far beyond in the dark horizon, The stars at night which are so bright ,Make me gate with wonder and delight i That God is the Maker of morning, noon, and night. Woodrow Talas Ninth Grade SPRING Rain showers tell us that spring is here. All the flowers are smiling while they're dancing on their stems. The birds sing their merry songs as they sit on the branches Of the apple tree in blossom. The sun shines bright on the green bright grass, The brooks are running Swiftly while the frogs are N croaking Spring is the time to be happy. when it goes away, summer takes its place. We build and grow physically by daily exercise, mentally by attending classes, socially by learning how 'to live happily with other people, and spiritually by participating in reli- gious services, through music, and by grasping the Word with- in our hearts. I We of the lndian race of today are important figures of a great mass of people striving for a better standard of ci- vilization. If we are to fit our talen 5 and abilities into the rising structure of building we must not just sit' back and grab what is handed down to us, but we must make full use of what is given to us, and build on that, so that in turn we can help in the world's building itoward peace and brother- hood, and show other people around us, Wherever we are, the abundant life that Jesus spoke about. - Whenever you pick up this book may it again stir the pathways of your mind and set you to building your ideals one 'by one which will be part of the big blue-print of achieve- x ments necessary to award honor to you, to your race, to your country,'and, the greatest of' all, to God. CREATIVE,LIVlNG Community, Country, and World Building . . ., - Nz- ' 's 'u irdividual V Peage 1S that quiet, calm feeling .rom within the 1 . The individual gives it to the home and community in proportion as r - ' ,L I the individual feels. In turn the community passes it to the country, the country to the worlds With peace everything is enjoyable, Everyone desires peace in . u their community, country and world. Education, h9Etl'th.8.1'ld. working together ere important. Working together is what lcounts. If you are all working together in harmony, peace will be in your midst. New schools, churches and hospitals are needed everywhere, especially overseas where many schools, churches and hospitals, were destroyed during World War Il. The playvround , . helps us develop a healthy body and clean i mind. It helps build a healthy body, mind and-soul. U As if in a large gymnasium, the' clean Arizona blue sky is our ceiling and the trees, buildings, flowers, and grass are our walls and here we have our basketball courts, volleyball courts, base- ball diamonds, football field, track field and swimming pool. On these playgrounds we learn to play with boys and girls from other schools. For instance, the girls have had a volleyball game with the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind, and many more. The boys have played with many other schools also, By doing this we learn how to get along with others.
