English and Social Studies combined under the super- vision of Mrs. Ardeth Cropper and Mrs. La Verne Foltz. Using, her background experi- ence in English, Mrs. Foltz guided students to a better comprehension of textbook material. Meeting in the library conference room in previous years, the exploratory teaching class outgrew it and moved into a room in the Main. Because of the large number of interested stu- dents, seniors not only observed teachers at Roskruge, but also traveled to Mansfeld, Sam Hughes and Davis schools. Bulletin boards and attendance sheets became familiar to all future teachers by the end of the year as stu- dents assisted their assigned teachers. Remedial speech Work fell to Mr. Larmer Nicholson. The speech therapist held meetings with Tucson High students in a small room by the elevator on the second floor of the Main. Pupils who could find their Way to this 'chole- in-the-wall drilled with the faculty member one of the six periods during the day.
