June flowers marked the setting as physical education teacher Jason Greer walked his daughter down the aisle at the First Baptist Church. Faculty Members Relieved Tensions In Unusual Ways Lively and artistic activities filled the spare time of faculty members during the year. Mrs. Roberta Espey and her husband Hugh attended the annual Southern Arizona Square Dance Festival held at Ramada Inn as members of the '6Diamond Squares. The gathering assembled in January. Oshkosh Public Museum in Wisconsin housed Elden C. Matthews, one-man show from August 4 to September I. I-Iis art display featured paintings and sculptures intended to shock the viewer. Involvement was the key idea in his Work, which expressed his thoughts on contemporary life with 'such titles as: Up- tight , Fission , '4War,' and c'Faith . Mr. Matthews reflected Manis inhumanity to Man. Yoga and Judo, along with the exploration of different religions gave an oriental tint to Miss Mary Rios's life. Torol Toroli' was Miss Tiny Mae W'ong's favorite cry as an avid uaficionadov of the bullfights. Oil painting intrigued Mrs. Eileen Beevers. The chemistry and physical and lilac colored design of flowers in an ornate birdcage especially to science teacher hung this picture in her home. She painted the black harmonize with the other decor. Speech Therapist lnstructed Pupils ln 'Hole-ln-Wall, Expansion was the key word in all areas of the English department in 1969. English and Social Studies combined under the super- vision of Mrs. Ardeth Cropper and Mrs. La Verne Foltz. Using, her background experi- ence in English, Mrs. Foltz guided students to a better comprehension of textbook material. Meeting in the library conference room in previous years, the exploratory teaching class outgrew it and moved into a room in the Main. Because of the large number of interested stu- dents, seniors not only observed teachers at Roskruge, but also traveled to Mansfeld, Sam Hughes and Davis schools. Bulletin boards and attendance sheets became familiar to all future teachers by the end of the year as stu- dents assisted their assigned teachers. Remedial speech Work fell to Mr. Larmer Nicholson. The speech therapist held meetings with Tucson High students in a small room by the elevator on the second floor of the Main. Pupils who could find their Way to this 'chole- in-the-wall drilled with the faculty member one of the six periods during the day.
