ARKANSAS GOVER OR' S CH UOL Brent Bryant The seventh annual Arkansas Governor's School is a unique educational program designed to focus on the sharpening of intellectual skills, the nurtur- ing of creativity, and the development of the per- sonal and social consciousness essential for 21st Century problem-solving. The fully residential 5 M week program at Hendrix College in Conway is designed to create an optimum academic arts learn- ing environment for Arkansas' gwed and talented students. BUYS STATE Xi .ll Steve Brock and Blake Young In June 1986 Steve Brock and Blake Young both seniors at Tuckerman High School attended the 46th Annual American Legion Boys State on the UCA campus in Conway They learned procedures and functions of seb' governemnt and practiced and performed them dur ing the week They also learned the responsibilities a city county or state ojicer must have Steve Brock was in the Nationalist Party and was in Schrader City of McDermott County He served as the City Councilman County Justice of the Peace and County Clerk ty and was in Bankston City of Moseley County He served as City Councilman and was nominated for state representative Also he played on the basket ball team that took first place at Boys State Both boys were sponsored by the Tuckerman American Legion Auxiliary J W A Blake Young was a member ofthe Federalist Par- k ..'
