TRUXTUN CDLGN-355 The mission of TRUXTUN DLGN-35 is to operate offensively, independently or in company with Strike, Anti-Sub- marine, or Amphibious forces against air, submarine, and surface threats. TRUXTUN's engineering plant ftwo nuclear reactors, geared turbines, and two shaftsy is similar to that of BAIN- BRIDGE, however, her weapons system and major electronics installation are similar to those of the DLG-28 class frigates. None of these similarities are absolute, making TRUXTUN truly in a class by herself. Displacing in excess of 9000 tons fully loaded, TRUXTUN has a length overall of 564 feet, and a navigational draft of 30 feet. She is capable of speeds in excess of twenty five knots, and is manned by 27 officers and 452 enlisted. .In- cluding provisions for a unit commander's staff, accommodations are available for 36 officers and 465 enlisted men. TRUXTUN is armed with a twin guided missile launcher aft which fires the TERRIER surface-to-air missile and the ASROC fAnti-Submarine Rocketp, a 5"f54 caliber rapid fire single mount forward, two 3"f50 caliber gun mounts amid- ships, and two types of torpedo mounts which fire homing torpedoes. With her weapons system combined with ANXSQS-26 Qvery long range sonarj, NTDS fNavy Tactical Data Systemp, and high performance radar and communi- cations systems, TRUXTUN is a formidable offensive warship. TRUXTUN's insigne is symbolic of her unique capabilities and versatility-truly, a "fast and powerful ship of many duties". Five of the line, each commemorates Commodore Thomas Truxtun, for whom the ship is named. The motto "ARS NAVIGANDI FIDELITAS IMPERIUMH expresses Commodore TruXtun's standards and achievements of Seaman- I ship, Loyalty and Command upon which are based the proudest traditions of the United States Navy. ,, ,,., rp ff.-af A 5 ,5- .Qff .. .mr 9'l5fY2.E!!!99R' Z.
