Foreword. . . Life Is . .. Life is many things. Life is a new baby, a small child, a teenager, an adult. Life is death. Life has its ups and downs. Life is different for every person. Each sees the phases of life in a different light. For all, life is a driving compelling force pushing us forward at a much too rapid pace. Life is precious. Memories of the past are too often brushed aside: too often forgotten . . . The 1966 Trojan is published to preserve one phase of our lives which has come quickly to an end. We, the staff, have done our best to make this a memorable and enjoyable Trojan yearbook for you. Sandy Zurmehly, Editor-in-Chief COAT-OF-ARMS for TROY HIGH SCHOOL The prestige coat-of-arms developed for Troy High School by the L. G. Balfour Company, assisted by the student council, has been established as a standing symbol for Troy. Each part of the coat-of-arms has a special and signi- ficant meaning. The shield with two swords crossing behind is to signify strength. The shield is divided into three parts. The top part shows the Lamp of Knowledge and Learning. Signifying activities in our school, the left part features the two faces of drama and art, also a music lyre for music, the right part featuring the Victory Laurel Wreath for victory in athletics and the crown stands for Glory in all our endeavors. In the ribbon beneath the shield is our school motto of Truth, Honor and Sportsmanship. Resting on top of the shield is the new Trojan helmet. The ribbon flowing across the top proclaims this to be Troy High School. Our new class rings also bear the coat-of-arms - truly a magnificent and prestige coat-of-arms for the finest - Troy High School. 3

First to Homer English who did his usual stupendous photography work. As most know and can see from the picture Homer had quite a misfortunate accident in his car near Fort Wayne in May. An air of discouragement smothered the staff. Egads! Now What? Ho1ner's son, John, stepped in and his remarkable work supported the English name. A few difficulties arose between Tipp City, where he makes his home, and Troy. When these difficulties did occur Jim English, a brother to Homer came from Sidney to fill in. Our many thanks go to three of the most wonderful and cooperative men in the world. Thank you, Mr. Englishfesj. The 1966 Trojan Staff 5 Is...
