Business Managers Copy Editor ........ .Marilyn McKenny Philip Starr .Richard Burk Ted Gigicos ...,..Carolyn Brown Glenn B. Jeffers came to Troy in 1945 as the prin- cipal of Troy High School. He became the Superin- tendent of Troy Schools in August 1947, after the death of Superintendent T. E. Hook. Mr. Jeffers received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Muskingum College and his Master of Arts De- gree from Ohio State University. His work prior to his coming to Troy included the superintendency of schools at Gratis, Ohiog the principalship of the high school at Camden, Ohiog the supervision of student teaching activities at Muskingum College, and the principalship of the N'Vilmington High School. Here, he also served as a critic teacher for students of iVil- mington College. Mr. Jeffers' family consists of his wife, Grace, and two children, Glenn Jr. and Alice Ann, both of whom have graduated from Troy High School. Glenn Jr. is now with the United States Navy, and Alice Ann is attending Miami University. Mrs. Jeffers is the librar- ian and dean of girls at Van Cleve Preparatory School. Mr. Jeffers has also been active in many community projects. He is ,a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Troy Kiwanis Club. Although his school du- ties are strenuous, he always finds time to take part in various civic enterprises. Troy Schools, their students and faculty, and the community have indeed been for- tunate to have Mr. Jeffers as a leader and a friend. It is with pride and satisfaction that Troy High School students and faculty honor Mr. Jeffers in the l959 Trojan. GLENN B. JEFFERS Superintendent of Troy Public Schools Superintendent Glenn B. Jeffers has directed the greatest expansion of Troy Public Schools in the his- tory of the system. Under his guidance, two large building programs have been completed. The first one included the construction of the new Forest Elemen- tary School, the new Kyle Elementary School, and the Arts and Industries Addition to the Van Cleve Build- ing. In 1958, the completion of the new Troy High School on Meredith Heights was a crowning achieve- IHCIH. During Mr. Jeffers' administration, the student body has increased from 1600 to 3750 students, and the fac- ulty has increased from 70 to 160 teachers. Including faculty members and maintenance personnel, em- ployees of the Board of Education number 240. Other expansion activities include the establishment of kindergartens on a non-tuition basis as a part of the regular school programg extension of health and phys- ical education facilitiesg introduction of Driver Educa- tiong classes in Remedial Readingg a broadening of the extracurricular program to appeal to the interests of every student. In 1955, the inclusion of all of Con- cord Township into the Troy City School District in- creased the enrollment by approximately 750 pupils, 5 sys To pay tribute to his fine accomplishments in the expansion of Troy Schools and especially in the building of the new Troy High School, the Senior Class dedicates the 1959 Trojan to GLENN B.
