ARTS AND INDUSTRIES BUILDING The photographs on the opposite page are the exterior views of Troy High School's new Arts and Industries Addition to be erected during the summer. - The Arts and Industries Building will house modern equipment to give Troy youth instruc- tion in a variety of different technical skills. The designers have tried to reproduce within this building some of the industrial activities carried on in the Troy area. It is the hope that each student upon entering the high school can take a tryoutfcourse which will consist of a samp- ling of the various types of training offered. This tryout course will enable 'the student to dis- cover his own aptitudes and interests. The sooner a student can decide what he wants tc make his life's work, the sooner he can start to prepare himself for that work. After a student completes the tryout course and has discovered his own interests and aptitudes, he can more wisely choose his other high school and college subjects to help him achieve his chosen work. The new building will be of modern design throughout. The south half of the first floor will house a modern Metal Industries Laboratory consisting of areas of instruction in machine shop, sheetmetal, foundry, and spot, oxy-acetylene, and electric arc welding, as well as stor- age rooms, tool room, combination library and planning center, and class demonstration and lecture room. The north half of the first floor will house the Wood Industries Laboratory and the Trans- portation Laboratory as well as necessary finishing and storage room. The south half of the second floor will house a modern Drafting Room, a Photography Dark Room. and a modem Communication Laboratory for electrical and radio instruction. The north halt of the top floor will house a modern Aircraft Mechanics Laboratory where a student can learn all phases of ground work pertaining to aviation. The students of Troy High School express their thanks to the voters of the school district for making this new Arts and Industries Building possible and look forward to the time when they can make use of its facilities. H. S. Our freshman year was quite eventful, and we showed our scholastic ability by winning honors for our school in the Miami Schol- arship Tests. During our sophomore year, we continued our fine achievements both scholastically and athletically. In our junior year, twelve of our number became members of the National Honor Society. They were Ioe Bill Hance, Iohn Heikes. Ivalou Siegel, Marjorie Miller, Richard Shellenbarger, Warren Easley, Elsie Shawhan, Helen Mott, Lois Pask, Betty lane Landrey, Mary Gantz, and Vivian Berchtold. Our senior year has been the most eventful year in the history of our class. This year our class was instru- mental in instigating classes in Spanish and Latin American history. We achieved many athletic honors and were victorious in the first round of the basketball tournament. The seniors helped in presenting the operetta, "Oh Doctor!" in March. The National Honor Society added five new members-Don Davis, Imogene Vesper, Kathryn Downing, Martha Lawrence, and Richard Gardner. Besides the many regularly scheduled senior social events, our class engaged in a pot-luck supper and several get-to-gethers during the year. All seniors in the class of '42 join together to say that we know what our motto means because we have experienced it in spending these four years at T. H. S. "Time ismoneyg spend it wisely." Thomas STORY OF THE PLAY Anita and Diana Meredith decide to gamble on the market, and with beginner's luck, they win four hun- dred thousand dollars. In order to keep Morgan, Anita's fiance, from discovering the situation, they tell him that the money was left Anita by an Uncle William who died in the West. The little lies grow beyond the control of the two girls in an amusing series of plimaxes. Most amusing and concemed is Grandma, who has to be convinced that she had a son William. Morgan finally sees a flaw and looks into the matter to discover the deception, but he keeps his discovery to himself. He hires a cowboy and an Indian squctw to come and blackmail Anita for half the money. They are to represent William's partner and wife. Anita realizes what Morgan has done, and so she scares the two with threats, and they leave. She then tells Morgan that she gave them the money, and he is very much worried, for they were supposed to give the money back to him, but he can't find them. Finally, the situation is cleared, and Anita is conceded to be very clever indeed. .. ...L .-.
