BIOGRAPHY OF CAPTAIN WARREN H. LOCKWOOD, USN COMMANDING OFFICER, USS TRIPOLI CLPH-XJ CAPTAIN Warren H. LOCKWOOD was born in Covina, California. He entered the Navy V-5 program in 1943, and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1945. In 1946 Captain LOCKWOOD left active duty to attend Occidental College, Los Angeles, California, continuing his association with the Navy as Reserve Officer attached to various squadrons at Naval Air Station, Los Alamitos, Califomia. He received his degree in Political Science from Occidental in 1950, and continued with graduate studies until recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict. In addition to extensive duties in the development and testing of helicopter warfare systems, Captain LOCK- WOOD has served with VS-21, CVGS-53, as Executive Officer of USS HORNET QCVS-121, Commanding Officer of HS-6 and as Commander, Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 50. He has served in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations COP-601 and was the Navy member of the 1969-70 Senior Seminar in Foreign Policy, U.S. Department of State, Washington, D.C. While assigned to the Staff of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, SHAPE, Belgium, he served as Deputy Chief of the Plans and Policy Branch. Captain LOCKWOOD commanded the USS DURHAM CLKA-1 141 prior to accepting command of USS TRIPOLI QLPH-XJ. A graduate of the Navy War College, Captain LOCKWOOD holds a Master of Science Degree in International Affairs. He has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with Gold Star in lieu of second award, Air and Navy Commendation Medals together with various unit commendations and campaign ribbonsfmedals. Captain LOCKWOOD is married to the former Catherine Bowen of Glendale, California, and they are the parents of three daughters and one son. The family resides in Coronado, Califomia. 5

STANLEY, USN EXECUTIVE OFFICER, USS TRIPOLI CAPTAIN STANLEY enlisted in the U.S. NAVY in 1951 and served as Flag Admin Yeoman for COMFIRSTFLT CSTAFF1. 1952-53, student in Naval Air Training Command. 1953-55, Communications Officer, ASW Officer, Schedules Officer, Ordnance Officer and SDO with VP-57. 1955-56, Instrument Flight Instructor and Line Officer with Fleet All Weather Training Unit, Pacific. 1958-60, Student Fitness Reports Officer, Instrument Flight Instructor with ATU-601, Public Affairs Officer, NAS Corpus Christi. 1960, Student, General Line School, U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. 1961-62, Officer of the Deck fUnderWay, in-port and at General Quarters1, CIC Watch Officer, Operations Admin Assistant, Ships Training Assistant LOGREC Officer, Boarding Officer, Assistant Air Ops, aboard USS RANGER QCVA-611. 1963-65, Maintenance Officer, Operations Officer, Administrative Officer, Executive Officer, CAPC, VS-35. 1965-66, Student, Foreign Affairs and Aviation Safety course, U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. 1966-67, Maintenance Officer, CAPC and Instructor Pilot, VS-41. 1967-68, Student Armed Forces Staff College. 1968-69 Executive and Commanding Officer VS-29. 1970, VS Readiness and Training with Staff, COMFAIRSDIEGO. 1971-72, Commander, Carrier Anti Submarine Air Group EIGHTY. CAPTAIN STANLEY attended University of Missouri and Baker University fmajor fields of engineering and psychology1. U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Affairs, Aviation Safety Officer course, General Line School. Graduate of Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia. CAPTAIN STANLEY entered the Navy from Kansas City, Kansas. He is married to the former Dorothy Evelyn Gill of Coronado, California. Captain and Mrs. STANLEY reside with their six children Claudia fl 71, Christopher 1161, Jennifer 1141, Thomas QI41, Carolyn U01, and James f51, at 1229 Alameda Blvd., Coronado, California. 7
