TRINITY-PAWLING SCHOOL PAWLING, NEW YORK Dedication The 1984 Trinitannus would like to recognize Mr. David Reece for his varied contributions and involvement in the Trinity-Pawling community. As he interviews and tours prospective students around campus or as he holds forth on the ice and Lacrosse field as a coach, he demonstrates a personal interest in every student and urges the best effort from each. This coupled with his unique wit and humor make him a popular man around campus. Highlights of the season included a come from behind win against a feisty Brunswick Team, a 1-1 tie against top finisher Hotchkiss, and four consecutive wins to close the season. Victories over rivals Kent and Canterbury were particularly sweet. Few of the players on this team will forget the lessons learned when Wooster scored a winning goal with 6 seconds left in the game, or the Bassett Hound who should have received an assist on one of Forman's goals. The team graduates 13 seniors, goalies |im Elia and ion Shisler, fullbacks Scribner, Bill Traff, and Logan Vonce, halfbacks Daily, Louis DuBois, )im Pagano, and Breck Kling, and forwards Alan Pfleuger, Peter Paik, Field Smith, and Mike Quartararo, and joining manager Ted Graham. Vonce earned the Most Improved Award, Liam Cuddy, Best Underclassman, and Daily finished his third year as a varsity starter with 15 goals, winning the Annual Award and being named to WNEPSSA's All-Select Team for the second year in a row. After two early season wins, the team participated in the Hill Invitational Tournament and managed to capture the consolation trophy. Forward Chris Elser was named to the All-Tournament team at Hill. At the beginning of the regular season, the team found itself in a battle for first place with Berkshire and Kent. Two season ending wins over these two schools resulted in the championship. The starting five varied somewhat during the season with Chris Elser, Neil Fessette, Tim Hughes,Tony Marx, Ryan Plunkett, and Co-Captains Mo Vaughn and Felipe Webster seeing the most action. Rounding out the squad were Scott Craig, Tom Giroux, Pat Garrigan, and Ian Wilson. Managers Herb Case, Larry (ones, and John Nelson provided great support for the team. Elser and Fessette were elected by the League to the 1984-85 All-League team. Statistically, T-P was the number one team in both offense and defense during the season which is a first in Trinity-Pawling basketball history. Though faced with the competition of Berkshire, the team made incredible progress throughout the season. Last year's award winner, Jeff DePaola, had a fantastic season with an unfortunate ending. Other skiers: Field Smith, Mark Emerson, T. Dalbey, Ernie Whit-beck, Geb Souhan, Robbie Maher, Ian Mac-Phail, Brad Lareau, Charley Jackson, Breck Kling, and Mike Strassner, showed improvement with each meet. The team was fortunate to have four returning lettermen, captains Gordon Richardson and Hank duPont, Peter Paik and T.J. McCrady. These members along with newcomers Gary Saner and Andy Slabough made up the strength of the team. Finishing off the year with another 103 season was not only impressive to the coaches but other schools as well. The highlight of the season was a 33-30 victory over Brunswick who has become a strong rival over the last few years. Many of the wrestlers completed the season with undefeated records, and all had a winning season. Hard work and team support as displayed in this past season are what make teams and set standards for future teams. The team finished an impressive second in the Avon Tournament, losing to a strong Avon team. The team had big wins over Choate and a toughly fought victory at Berkshire. With 11 seniors on the team, the team had experience and leaves plenty of openings for next year. The best record on the team was held by the fifth man, Mike Findley, at 14-3. The sixth man, lake Willing, and seventh man, Eric Shiele, gave the team strong support by winning their matches constantly. The rest of the ladder fell, Pat Smith at number four, co-captain John Florence at number three. The number two position was held by Avery Burke for the first half of the season. Unfortunately he suffered an ankle injury which sidelined him for the rest of the year, but he still compiled a record of 7-2. Mike Ursu stepped into the position and held it well. The number one position was held by Taylor Abbett who has held the number one position for the past three years, uncontested. Over the last four years T-P Squash has become a team to be reckoned with, thanks to Coach Ned Reade and Ted Kneeland.
