,J . above people mill around anxiously waiting for the band to begin playing at a typical browne dance. below jeff clapper helps promote the hal- loween dance. bottom left even though the lights are on students try to get into the mood at the first browne dance. bottom right students enjoy doing a slow dance once in a while. far center near the exit things get a bit crowded: browne dances averaged about 350 students cafeteria rocks on fridays the first dance of the year was less than a success because the lights could not be dimmed in the cafeteria. the alter- native of holding browne dances at maryvale also ran into snags when maryvale refused browne clubs the use of their gym. with typical bruin ingenuity however, a light switch was placed in the cafeteria and the bruin boosters helped with transporting students from the maryvale field to the browne cafeteria. the first dance back at browne was held by associated students for only 5Oc admission charge, and a record number of students showed up. next was the hallo ween dance which started with some of the yearbook staff dressing up in costumes to promote the dance. if
