F R C U L T Y SOME FHCULTY MEMBERS HNTICIPPITE RETIREMENT You ask for a humorous statement on how I expect to spend my time after retiring. Personally, I can't see anything humorous about my retiring, and that sort o' cramps my style. There is only one thing I have definitely decided upon when that time comes, namely, to actually catch enough-and big enough-fish to make good on all the fishing yarns I have kidded myself into thinking my friends have believed all these years. That ought to keep me plenty busy all the time I have left. THOMHS H. ELSON. If I should live to retire, I think I shall drive up to the school every morn- ing and watch all the other teachers go in. Then, I shall drive home and read fairy tales, stories of good little boys and girls who always mind their P's and O's. Then, l'll go and call on friends I never had time to go to see in the old school days. In fact, if I live to retire, I'll really begin to live. A Eva IONES. It will be a great life to be a real modern grandmother, and that is what I'm contemplating in my old age. I hope to live within walking distance of my married children and shall spend my time knitting for the little ones-who knowsl I may even resume my roller-skating and bicycle riding. Perhaps, l'll have a grandson who will fly a plane, and maybe, he'll take Granny along. Since life begins at forty, I'm looking forward to a gay old age. LOIS L. ENGEL. I plan to locate in the South Seas, there I shall stalk the wild boar, ride the breakers, hunt the giant turtle, cultivate the bread fruit treeg and study the other natives. Hnyone who is interested in such a life may come and talk it over. Departure will not take place until about 1972. WILLIPIM E. CROW. When I'm a nice old lady, I shall sit by the tire and spin-spin yarns about the humorous sayings and doings of the pupils of Torrance High in bygone days. STELLH YOUNG. It is not the writer's ambition to be either the wit or the nit-wit of the Torrance faculty. Wise-cracking, day-dreaming, or, romancing in the moon- light, sooth-saying, or crystal-gazing, seem never to have been destined to be my particular talent according to the signs of the Zodiac. Perhaps in the year Two Thousand regular passenger trips will be scheduled to the moon, and there will be a demand for teachers of ancient history. Then I shall fondly relate the tales of the Evolution of the Machine Hge, which marked the crisis during the years of my youth. One thing is certain. There will always be someone in need of a friendly smile, a kindly deed, or a garden to putter in when youth moves too fast to meet the devotion of a young-old school- marm. SHRH H. VAUBEL. Instead of coming back to school in September when I retire, I want to take a trip around the world and then come back to a home with a large garden where I can raise beautiful flowers. FLORENCE BEHR. I15l
