Several new instruments were added to fill out the iiistrumentation and the membership increased to fifty players. The ba11d played at all of the home football and basketball games. took part in the fall and spring concert and assisted the chorus in the All School Revue. The band also entered the Class B division of Central Washington Competition Festival in Ellensburg. April 19 and was rated as superior. November 8, The group sang several times at club and grange meetings before their next major performance. "Top-Hi Lites of 1941." Following the Spring Concert. April 15. the chorus entered the Ellensburg Contest Festival, April 18 and 19. where they received an excellent rating. The final appearance of th? year was at Baccalaureate. The chorus was accompanied by Wanda Caricll and diricted by H. Richard Zwicker. Frank Lord. ' The Senior class presented its annual play December Gth. They Senior chose an unusual court room mystery drama. "The Night of January 16th." The large cast of 22 was augmented by jurors chosen from the audience who rendered their final verdict of 'snot gui1ty". The defendant was Mary Wakey and the lawyers were Grant Black and Roger McCarthy. Witnesses added to the reality of the play by coming to the stand from their seats in the audience. This play. directed by Miss Padfield, was different. thrilling. and memorable. ' April 21st. the Junior class presented "Tons of Money" a fast moving Junlor farce full of crazy situations and crazier lines. The production featured an unusual triangular stage setting with modern lines and color. The cast was well-balanced with important roles played by Robert Donohue and Virginia Beatty. PEP CLUB The Pep Club girls started the year' with an initiation and slumber party at IXlar':garet Russells. The first dance of the season was given after the opening basketball game with Wapato, It was at this :game that "Willie the Wildcat" was presented to the school by the Pep Club. A banquet was given for the basketball boys and a benefit matinee dance for Willie. The Pep Club girls havi maintained a rooting section throughout the sports seasons and the girls themselves helped build the cage for "Willie." In addition to this there were tournaments in archery, badminton. tennis. and ping pong. Among the other activities of the G. A. L. were the carnival giten in th. fall, a ban- quet honoiing the Wildcat members in March, and an annual monthly sport supper to which a visiting school was invited each time.
