QJVPQU EFQIEI QQSQJEPXQ Elumremilizzfafil Enom? Oral History projects began in January and involved 21 students. The tape! slide productions were directed by Mike Printz, librarian. The projects got their start in 1976 as a special Bicentennial Program. Ten his- tories were done that year and the same number were .done this year. The ideal of the project is to have students aware of our rich local heri- tage and be able to share what they know with the community, Mr. Printz said. Topics this year included the Brookville Hotel, near Abilene: Little Russia, in North Topeka: The Grand Opera House, now the Grand Theater, the Menninger Foundation, and three ghost towns. People covered were Bradbury Thomp- son, a top graphic artist of the United States: and Georgia Neese Gray, the first woman to be U.S. Treasurer. An event that was covered was the first automobile trip to Pike's Peak, using a Topeka- manufactured Great Smith automobile.
