Two credits had to be communication products, and two were the student's choice. Composi- tion 1 and speech arts were also re- quired. Some courses offered were human- ities, creative writing, mythology, discussion, debate, science fiction, acting, grammar, world literature and mass media. Besides offering the most courses, the department also had the most teachers, 15. Three new teachers joined the staff. Miss Beverly Ber- nardi taught Composition 2, creative writing and English experiences. Tom Mitchell taught Composition 2, science fiction and English exper- iences. Les Kuhns taught forensics, Composition 2, U.S. literature and debate. GIUJQQIGIQQQ QJEPCBEEJQI 521995993 With inter-continental travel being commonplace in today's Space Age, the ability to speak a foreign lan- guage fluently would be a great as- set. Jobs in government service and air travel are also open to those who speak foreign languages. ln Spanish, French, Latin and Ger- man classes, students learned by speaking, reading, Writing, singing, dancing, cooking foreign foods and other activities. Spanish students participated in a contest in Wichita where they were judged for their ability to pronounce letters and words. French students took an imaginary trip to France, speaking only French while buying plane tickets, getting passports and exchanging American money for francs.
