Qfamilaziee Deed! emilim iaefatin Coach Ed Poort, with a spirited, hard working squad, had possibly the best swimming team he had ever coached. Several swimmers and divers made it into state compe- tition. Randy Harris, '79, finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle. After a slow start, Jeff Handley, '79, bounced back and captured tenth place in state diving competition. I would consider the state meet a success, Coach Poort said. One of the disappointments was that the relay teams didn't make it to the finals. One relay team was only .8 of a point away from qualifying. Most members of the team were seniors who worked hard and deserved to go to the finals. ABOVE: ln good form, Jeff Handley, '79, fin- ishes his dive.
