efsmcin rsiuimiaig QGIGIQ etpilri-Elia Another winning season, including a team victory in the regionals, came to an abrupt halt for the lady Charg- er tennis team when it drew No. 1 seeded Shawnee Mission East as its first opponent in state competition. West lost all five opening round matches. A dominant force in city tennis, the team lost its first city meet in eight years, losing to Topeka High, but continued its four-year string of first place finishes at the Wamego invita- tional. Coach Bob Gladfelter, stressing team unity, spirit and enjoyment of the game, led the team to another winning season, the eighth in his eight years of coaching here. The young and relatively inexperi- enced squad finished the season with a 9-12 record.
