West lost all five opening round matches. A dominant force in city tennis, the team lost its first city meet in eight years, losing to Topeka High, but continued its four-year string of first place finishes at the Wamego invita- tional. Coach Bob Gladfelter, stressing team unity, spirit and enjoyment of the game, led the team to another winning season, the eighth in his eight years of coaching here.
