Senior Kim Springer calculates some figures on the adding machine during her office simulation class if Chargers Learn Business Skills If you could learn to chew gum and walk at the same time, you could learn to typewritef, This facetious remark by business teacher hon bnaffer was an open invitation to the basic course offered by the Business Department. The first quarter of typewriting was consumed in learning the keyboard. The second quarter consisted of using the skills developed to type letters, tables and reports. Two classes taught by Charles Conklin were Forkner shorthand and Lester Hill office simulation. The sim- ulation, a part of office practice class, gave students a taste of true office employment. The Business Depart- ment also offered record keeping, per- sonal finance and accounting. Tallying company records on the adding machine during her office simulation class is Elisa Webb, '75.
