Art Students Show Creativity Art was possibly the one area in which students had the op- portunity to create projects re- flecting themselves. This year students expressed themselves in classes such as design, drawing, opaques, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and watercolor. Advanced classes were offered to seniors, allowing them to design and finish projects. Individual growth is a goal of both students and teachersf' said Royce Fleming, depart- ment head. Students' works were dis- played at various shopping cen- ters, at Washburn University and at state-wide Scholastic Art Award Competition in Wichita. 5,r4- up f . r' .fri 1 it kg. ,. ,v 5 , , v --Q43 X, 7-sf!-21' 90 Getting prepared to fire her silver in jewelry class is Donna Werder, '76. Librarians Care About Students Why is the Topeka West li- brary one of the most devel- oped libraries in Kansas? Pri- marily because the librarians care. Mike Printz and Miss Marcia Lundin take a personal interest in the students, needs. The biggest event of the year was receiving a 86,000 grant from the Shawnee County Bi- centennial Committee. The money ,was used to purchase materials for a unique two-hour Kansas history class being of- fered next year. The class will give students the opportunity to go out and visit actual land- marks in Kansas. 2' ABOVE: indulging herself in an interesting book is librarian Marcia Lundin.
