This might have been a familiar statement in the ap- plied botany class as students took on the new fad of talking to plants to encourage growth. Students raised a variety of plants and learned to make at- tractive floral arrangements which they loaned to offices and classrooms. Other science-related classes were physics, astronomy, hu- man ecology, chemistry, video tape production, human anato- my and physiology and biology. 116 Human ecology, taught by Dave Umbarger, is one of the wide vari classes offered to West students in the field of science.
