y No Challenge Too Big
For Men of Dedication
THE SMOOTH operation of Topeka's schools from
kindergarten through high school depended heavily
on the abilities and devoted efforts of the elected
School Board members and the appointed adminis-
trators. Their responsibilities ranged all the way
from repair work to new construction, from curricula
to the raising of teaching standards, from salaries to
school book rentals-all depending on how the com-
munity sees "education"
The success of the November bond issue was a
triumph to both the system and individuals, but the
job of keeping up with steadily increasing enroll-
ment still contributes headaches. The staffing and
planning of Topeka XIVSSK has been of special inter-
est to this year's student body which will send sev-
eral hundred ol its number to the new school. As
Topeka high school students become more aware
ol present day economics and the demands of life
in the 60's, the appreciation of the administrators
is increasingly evident.

GOVERNMENT for the people and by the people had
inspiration in the determination of Kansas settlers to
establish law and order according to the needs of the
times. From this source have sprung some of the coun-
try's great leaders, religious, educational, political, mili-
tary, cultural. Troy's directors have shown the same
clear vision, practical application, and sincere humani-
tarianism of their forebears but in the light of modern
thinking and scientific advancements.
THE TERRITORIAL Capitol at Ft. Riley antidated
statehood by nearly a decade and saw the beginning of the
struggle that put "Bloody Kansasl' in the history books.
