Cross-Country team emerges second in invitation meet with six Phila- delphia High Schools in Fairmont Park. All-Society loses to Gilman 12-9. 24th-Football season culminates in exciting victory of Varsity over Gilman, 13-6. 28th 130-pound team and Midgets lose. Movie: Malcolm MacGregor in Freedom of the Press . Tea Dance after the game. -Thanksgiving Vacation begins. December: 2nd-Thanksgiving Vacation ends. 5th-Swimming and Basketball squads report for practice. Soccer team beats Havrelde 7th- 8th- Grace High, 3-1, in first game of season. Mr. Beveridge addresses Aviation Club on European airways. Dramatic Club starts rehearsals for Mid-Winter productionsx Annual Football Banquet held. Walser Hawtin elected 1929 Captain. Milton Sills in Hawk's Nest at the Cage. - 9th-Reverend George Johnson, of Lincoln University, preaches. 10th-Classical Club hears Jones' speech on Private Life of the Romans . 14th-Glee Club performs before Student Body in Chapel during Study Hall. 15th-Varsity Soccer Team defeats Forest Park, 5-0. 17th-Term exams begin. 19th-Merry Christmas! January 1929: 6th-Christmas Vacation ends. 11th-Diggs and Shepherd initiated into the Cum Laude Society. Cum Laude Banquet held at Tome House after the ceremony. Seniors invited. Dean Gauss, of Princeton, is guest of honor and speaker of the evening. 12th-Tome surprises Baltimore Soccer Club by defeating them 3-1. Basketball quintet vanqtushes Elkton Athletic Club, 37-17. Richard Barthelmess in Wheels of Chance provides movie entertainment. 4th-Reverend Mr. Humphries, of Baltimore, speaks to school. 7th-School questionnaire reveals 7 o'clock Study Hall project popular. 10th-Woodberry Forest gridders subdue Tome, 24-0. Cross-Country team loses first meet, 25-31, to Maryland Freshmen. Marion Nixon and Glenn Tryon in How to Handle Women is weekly movie. 11th-Rev. E. J. February 1929: 1st-George School beats Debating team in first meet on question, Resolved that the Quota provisions of the Immigration Act of 1924 should be eliminated. 2nd-Basketball team squashes Gilman 53-32 in thrilling battle. Soccer team beats Gilman, 2-1. Three Ring Marriage shown at Cage. Swimmers beat Coates- ville, 50-11. 3rd-Mr. Pennypacker, Dean of Admissions at Harvard, occupies pulpit.
